Math
I'm sorry that you have not yet received the time test back. The scantron machine was marking many questions wrong that were actually correct and I had to check all of tests by hand. Also, many children did not write their names on their tests so it took me a while to figure out which test belonged to each child.
I will have the children do Error Analysis for the time test on Monday. Many students did very well, but the ones who struggled were caught by the problems that either used words (quarter past, quarter to) or times that were close to the hour, but a bit before the hour. (ex: 12:51)
We are working on probability this week. This is the last math unit in 3rd grade that is covered on the SOL. Over the next few days we will mostly be discussing the number of possible outcomes. For example, if you have 2 shirts and 3 short, you can make 6 different outfits.

I will show the students how to draw this type of picture to determine the number of outcomes and I'll also have them discover that you can find the answer by multiplying the number of possible outcomes for one event to the number of possible outcomes of another event.
